Bethlehem University was founded in 1973 as a Catholic co-educational institution, open to all faiths, and committed to providing quality higher education to the people of Palestine. It now teaches over 3000 students of which 78% are female and 77% are Muslim.
The University offers a wide range of courses in both the sciences and the arts. Although courses cost about $4000 per year, tuition fees are capped at $1600- $2,000 with further support being provided in cases of family financial hardship.
All courses include religious study of both Christianity and Islam for all students. In a society that is often characterised by religious division, Bethlehem University plays a unique role in fostering mutual understanding and respect in the next generation of leaders.
This year students’ family incomes have been badly impacted by COVID. We have been able to pay for 3 scholarships in 2021 to fully fund 3 students who would otherwise have had to drop out of education.
