As a travel company, Pilgrimage People are especially conscious that our travel adds to the carbon issues affecting the globe. Whilst we still want our customers to travel and enrich their lives on pilgrimage, we do all we can to work towards off-setting our carbon footprint.
We maintain a small office and try to be as paperless as possible. With the exception of one per year, all our Trustees Meetings are held on Zoom. We liaise with our accountants using accounts software that can be accessed on line thereby foregoing the need for more paper and physical visits.
We are beginning to introduce some tours that are taken by train rather than flying. Where flying is necessary, we are working towards off-setting the carbon footprint of those flights by donating to appropriate charities. As we began travelling again post pandemic in 2022, we have been able to make a donation to a charity that works in water conservation and distribution in the Holy Land. This is a major issue in the area and the exceptional heatwaves of 2022 exacerbate those problems. Going forward we will look to also work with charities that plant olive trees in the Holy Land. This will have a two pronged effect in that planting the trees will work to off-set the carbon whilst at the same time providing an income for those in need in the Holy Land, the major aim of our charitable status.
