Lisieux

Not far from Caen in Normandy, the little town of Lisieux has become closely associated with St Therese of the Child Jesus and offers a wonderful opportunity to spend a few days learning more about this popular and inspiring saint. The “little flower” as Therese was known was renowned for her prayer for priests and is Patroness of the Missions.

Visit her birthplace in Alencon, her family home in Lisieux and the Carmel where she died. There is the chance to explore the town and our accommodation is with the sisters in their guest house next door to the Carmel. The town of Lisieux is quite small and there is the chance to stroll around its streets, enjoy a drink in one of its many cafes, or just spend time in prayer at one of the many places associated with St Therese.

Visits to the city of Caen and Bayeux (which is also close by) can be arranged. This pilgrimage can provide a beautiful opportunity for a parish or deanery retreat as the itinerary can be easily tailored to include presentations about the life of St Therese. The sisters’ beautiful chapel, just adjacent to our accommodation, can be used for exposition or prayer.
